inter alia

Why we love them

We love Inter Alia for their fearlessness in bringing the conversations that are challenging, but necessary. A non-profit organisation that aims to create an inclusive and active European civil society, for them the constitutional values of the European Union – freedom, democracy, and human rights – are not mere ideas but something to pursue in everyday interaction.

What they do

Inter Alia is based in Greece and combining political education, advocacy, and arts is their bread-and-butter. Their strategy? To pursue social change through small, tangible interventions as well as through critical reflection that supports a deeper transformation. Coming from a place of love, they challenge dominant narratives and encourage the active political participation of marginalised communities. To give you a taste, one of the questions posed by the Positively Different Short Film Festival (PDSFF) of 2026, https://www.positively-different.net/ was: What form should our civil resistances take amidst rising fascism and state repression? In the words of revolutionary Assata Shakur: “Nobody in the world, nobody in history, has ever gotten their freedom by appealing to the moral sense of the people who were oppressing them.”

How they fit in the ecology of movements

They promote civic action and civil society’s effectiveness in influencing decision-making. Inter Alia believes that for the construction of a Europe, which values openness, inclusiveness, and interconnectedness, the active participation of the people is needed. They call for European civil societies to claim greater involvement in social and political processes.
