Holy Land Trust

Why we love them

We love Holy Land Trust for their ability to stay gentle amidst terrors. As the hope-makers for the oppressed, they will break your heart with their dedication to healing the wounds of the community – and then offer you the opportunity to start mending it, and the torn world, with bricks for the walls of demolished homes, olive tree saplings for where ancient trees have been felled, and music for the soul to celebrate together.

What they do

They transform trauma into hope through practical action and creativity to build resilience. A Palestinian non-profit organisation, they provide children safe spaces to explore their emotions, to release anger and stress through engaging in dancing, singing, drama, and music. They provide direct aid to Palestinian communities, supporting families in Bethlehem who have lost their income and bringing emergency relief to families in Gaza. Their programs empower Palestinian women both in peacebuilding and in leading the change within their communities, such as addressing the causes of gender-based violence. Holy Land Trust believes that empowering women will ripple throughout the communities strengthening them. But it is not only material things – it is about maintaining the hope and dignity of the communities.

How they fit in the ecology of movements

They advocate through storytelling, bringing Palestinian voices into international arenas. What they ask for is freedom, equality, and justice for everyone, as they non-violently resist the Israeli military occupation. In their Travel & Encounter program, local people share their stories with international visitors:

“These encounters are grounded in human connection and lived experience, enabling visitors to gain deeper understanding beyond headlines and stereotypes.”
